EXHIBITION “ESTUDIO LOUGA SENEGAL”

Place: Sala de Exposiciones Isla Forum- TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes – Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Date: From 21st September to 2nd October.
From: Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00 h Mondays closed.
foto estudio louga senegal 3 webThe intention of the exhibition Estudio Louga Senegal is to bring the spectator closer to Senegal at its purest using photographs taken in rural areas, where people look at the camera without prejudice or complex.
A transparent look which invites you to get to know the culture of different ethnic groups who live together in harmony.
The exhibit explores two worlds. In the first, which is more intimate, the camera reveals a classical picture, for some of the people appearing have never been photographed.
The second reflects the active way of life of the regions of Louga and Saint Louis, where people live at a different pace.

About Oliver Yanes

Born in Los Silos in 1976, he came into contact with the word of photography at a very early age, and discovered a form of artistic expression and illustration which allowed him to explore his creativity. Being as he was a multidisciplinary photographer, he especially stood out in travel reports and nature, fields in which he attained international recognition.
His work has taken him to different parts of the world, but his main activity is regularly centered on the African continent, where he carries out tasks and projects for publications as well as his own personal work.
He also teaches photography in several faculties and colleges.
His work has been exhibited in several provincial and national galleries.

SILAEduca

Between the 21st and 23rd of September students from several high schools on the island will be visiting TEA and taking part in the different activities which have been programmed.

A space for young people to approach culture, development, social reality and African traditions, with the help of the protagonists. A real and different view of the wealth and cultural contributions of the African continent. Our main aim is to acquaint young people with the rich cultural diversity of the African continent.
WORKSHOP "YO TAMBIÉN SOY DIFERENTE. Rueda de prensa juvenil”. (I TOO AM DIFFERENT. A youth's press conference.) Organised by the COMFRICA Association.
(Room C)

The intention of Yo también soy diferente (I too am different) is to have Canarian children and youths get “under the skin” of reporters and ask them to interview four immigrants using a press conference format. The guests of these press conferences will be African people who will tell us about the different aspects of immigration. These collaborators, who will be interviewed by the students, will talk about their way of life, their experience, their countries of origin and their arrival in our country. The purpose of this initiative is to acquaint our students with immigration from a different angle. From behind a camera or a microphone, our students take an active part in making our community more sensitive to tolerance and respect to what is different.

THE STORYTELLER: Mohamed Hammú.foto_hammu_07_web
(Classroom Teaching)
… “I am a translator and interpreter, but I can neither write nor register my mother tongue, Berber. This beautiful language and culture is only preserved thanks to the hard work of collective memory. And the main characters of this precious task are the Berber women who, by means of the narration of stories, legends and fables, enrich the intangible heritage which, for centuries, has survived thanks to the tenacity of these invaluable women.
Llevo por el camino (I go through life) tells the same stories which are told in patios, homes and marketplaces in Morocco, Algiers, Tunisia ... In short, Berber stories which do not only remain in the desert but which travel the world to attract the curiosity of other human beings and to reveal a beauty that is universal. M.Hammú”.
